Dear Bishop Quinn,
My name is Sally Smith. I was born January 24, 2001 in Rochester. I was then baptized on February 27, 2001 at Brimstone Catholic Church in Brimstone, Minnesota by Father Merle T. Smith. Coincidentally, my father, Frank, had all of his church learning there. I have been a faithful pupil of God at the Church of the Resurrection in Rochester. That was where I had my first communion on April 30, 2009 by Father Tom Loomis. I now go to St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa.
A few of my many hobbies are reading, creating music, drawing, and being in
nature. The books that I usually read are those that are fictional and they usually
take place in the past. I adore playing my violin in my high school band and at
home. I also play the piano and a little bit of the guitar. Recreating nature through water colors is a favorite pass time for me. I also find creating designs
mathematically in my sketch books exhilarating. However, my favorite drawings
consist of me and my family fishing or doing other nature activities.
My only sibling graduated from college last spring. She is also my sponsor for Confirmation. Being my dearest friend, I would like to have no other. The most important thing in my life is family, which consists of my father, mother, sister, and God. God is my hope and life. He is the only thing my heart can completely love because I know that He shall never leave me. My parents and sister would never willingly leave me, but life has to leave them eventually.
I want to be confirmed in the oldest Christian church to show that my love for God will last as long as the Catholic Church.
Sincerely,
Sally Smith

Dear Bishop Quinn,
My name is Kris Johnson. I go to school at Zumbrota-Mazeppa High
school in Zumbrota, MN. I am a lifelong member of the church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Mazeppa.
I participate in two school sports, which are volleyball and track and field.
I am also in band and play flute. I enjoy singing in our high school choir. I also participate in softball during the summer. Some of my favorite things to do are take photos and be with my friends. I have two siblings, Katie and Scott. My parents are Rick and Jackie.
My patron saint is St. Cecilia. She is the patron of musicians. She was
born in the 2nd century. Pope Gelasius introduced her name to Rome. St.
Cecilia spent most of her time preaching. She converted over 400 people.
During the 3rd century she was struck by an executioner three times and lived for three days. She is known for being the patron of music because she heard
heavenly music when she was married. St. Cecilia's feast day is November
22nd. On this day we remember her. I chose her as my saint because I love music.
I went to a confirmation retreat at Camp Victory with the confirmation students from Pax Christi in Rochester MN. I learned a lot about what it means to be confirmed in the church. You have to be more responsible in the church like ushering or reading. During the retreat it gave everyone the chance to be closer to God. We prayed for the speakers that had come. The speakers had each witnessed God in different ways.
My sponsor is Mary Jones. I chose her as my sponsor because she is a good family friend. Mary is an active member in the St. Peter and St. Paul Church. She sets a good example that I want to follow. I look forward to meeting you when you come to Pax Christi!
Sincerely,
Kris Johnson
